AP® Calculus BC
All of our tutors are experienced teachers at highly regarded, competitive schools, who have taught their subjects extensively and have received excellent student evaluations throughout their careers.
Some Background:
Calculus BC provides an in-depth study of differential and integral calculus – the college equivalent of two semesters of freshmen calculus for scientists and engineers. Students will explore topics in the AP syllabus such as rules of differentiation, techniques of integration, applications of the integral, differential equations, and series. Students should be ready to take the Calculus BC exam at the end of this course.
Topics you typically see are:
Limits and functions, including one sided limits and polar and vector functions, properties of derivatives, including second derivatives and their applications, integrals, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, polynomial expansions and Taylor series.
Problem areas:
- Learning how to use Euler’s method to approximate solution curves to differential equations, graphing slope fields, and logistic differential equations.
- How to use partial fraction decomposition, long division, improper integration, and integration by parts to solve challenging integrals.
- Understanding the nuances of related rates and optimization problems.
- Applying convergence tests to series, working with Taylor and Maclaurin series, computing the radius and interval of convergence, and Lagrange error bounds.
Can we help you?
Absolutely! We currently teach Calculus BC courses at some terrific schools, and see firsthand the same types of stumbling blocks you encounter. Work with us over our interactive whiteboard and high definition video, and we can unravel difficult areas for you as you work through some example problems with us.
